Frequently asked questions about Arrow Exhaust

Answers to the most common questions about Arrow exhausts, fitment, homologation and delivery.

Which Arrow exhausts are road legal?

It depends on the line and version. Veloce and Race-Tech Approved systems are EU homologated with an E-mark and noise certification, so fully road legal and suited to a technical inspection. Pro-Race, GP2, Indy-Race and Works are race only versions, allowed on closed circuits only. Thunder and X-Kone are available in both versions. Each product page clearly states whether a system is street legal or race only.

Will an Arrow exhaust really give me more power?

On a 1000cc sportbike a slip-on typically adds 3 to 6 hp and improves throttle response. A full system can add up to 8 to 15 hp along with significant weight savings. On smaller engines the gains are smaller. For maximum results some systems require ECU mapping. Beyond power, an Arrow mainly delivers a distinctive sound, weight savings and a high quality finish.

What is the difference between a slip-on, mid-pipe and full system?

A slip-on replaces only the muffler behind the mid-pipe. A mid-pipe (link pipe) sits between the header and the muffler, and is often needed to connect an Arrow muffler to your OEM headers. A full system replaces the complete exhaust line including headers, mid-pipe and muffler. The more you replace, the greater the effect on power and weight, but also the price.

What is the difference between Pro-Race, Race-Tech, Thunder and X-Kone?

Pro-Race is the race only top of the line in titanium and carbon, developed from the WSBK programme. Race-Tech is the all-round line for sport and touring, available as a street legal Approved version. Thunder is the accessible price class with an aluminium or carbon end cap, ideal for anyone who wants the Arrow character without the premium price. X-Kone is the modern hexagonal muffler for naked and sport-touring. For circuit only, GP2, Indy-Race and Works are the true race lines.

Can I remove the db-killer for track days?

Yes, on most Arrow models the db-killer is removable for track days. It is usually a matter of undoing two bolts. For road use the db-killer must stay in place, otherwise you lose homologation and risk a fine. We also sell separate Pro-Race db-killers as a replacement or upgrade.

Will I void my factory warranty by fitting an Arrow exhaust?

In Europe, fitting an aftermarket exhaust alone should not be grounds to void your entire factory warranty. However, specific damage that can be shown to result from the exhaust is not covered. For definitive advice, consult your dealer or the warranty terms of your motorcycle brand.

How do I know if an Arrow fits my bike?

Use the year/make/model finder at the top of the page, or check the fitment list on each product page. Femon Parts only supplies Arrow systems developed specifically for your bike. Unsure about fitment? Call +31 172 533 829 or email info@femon.nl and we will check it together.

What is the difference between titanium, NiChrome and stainless steel?

Titanium is up to 60% lighter than OEM steel and develops the characteristic blue and gold heat patina as the exhaust warms up. The premium choice for sportbikes. Stainless steel is highly durable and corrosion resistant in a more accessible price class. NiChrome is used mainly for race headers thanks to its high heat resistance under sustained race loads. Aluminium is used for Thunder and Race-Tech mufflers, light and sharply priced.

Is ECU mapping needed for an Arrow full system?

For slip-ons mapping is rarely needed. For a full system where the complete exhaust line including headers is replaced, mapping does unlock the full potential. Some Arrow full systems come with a supplied fuel module or include data for remapping. The product page states whether mapping is recommended or included.
