Choosing the tooth count

The number of teeth determines the gear ratio of your motorcycle. You can find the standard OEM tooth count in the workshop manual. More teeth at the rear gives faster acceleration but lower top speed; fewer teeth at the rear gives higher top speed but slower acceleration.
